Zitat von: maxconsolePandora's Battery - Software to un-brick/downgrade EVERY PSP - just like Sony's JigKick!

One of the biggest if not THE BIGGEST development in the PSP hacking scene has just unfolded. A collective group of hackers including the likes of Dark_Alex, Noobz and Booster have released a new piece of software which will replicate the exact functions of Sony's Jigkick battery (even better) - that means it is now possible for homebrew enabled PSP's to UNBRICK and DOWNGRADE their systems at their own will. The respective software will transform any regular PSP battery into one which can perform all the functions of the official Sony JigKick which is used by Sony repair staff themselves. Even if your PSP is not homebrew enabled, you can just ask a friend who has a homebrew enabled PSP to run the software and transform your battery too! Read more on the software at the official release thread as launched by legendary hacker Dark_Alex HERE. Spread the word and DIGG THIS!. And on a FINAL note, while the team is a bit too proud to apply pressure for DONATIONS, just do it even if it is just a dollar - ig390@msn.com via PAYPAL (Authorized by Dark_Alex, Noobz and all on the C+D development team).

CREDIT goes to all the contributors on this project: Adrahil, Booster, Cswindle, Dark_AleX, Ditlew, Fanjita, Joek2100, Jim, Mathieulh, Nem, Psp250, Skylark and TyRaNiD.

Pandora's Battery

We told you that we'd be releasing an unbricker for the M33 bricks.  But then we got to thinking, maybe that just wouldn't be exciting enough.

Would you like a super special surprise bonus?  How about an unbricker for ALL PSPs?  Yep, you read that right.  We call it "Pandora's Battery".

There's a larger story behind this unbricker, though, and it deserves to be told.  It's the culmination of years of behind-the-scenes research and development by some of the top names in PSP hacking, under the name of the Prometheus project.  This group of people, from various development teams, was dedicated to developing and releasing PSP hacks and exploits, with the aim of improving the status of PSP homebrew, and making sure that it was kept alive.

For some time this project was highly successful - many releases from Noobz, C+D and others were direct results of this work.  The zenith of this success was the development of this unbricker - which required some amazing technical leaps, including:

   1. Reverse engineering of the service (unbrick) mode
   2. Development of a technique to change an ordinary battery into a service mode trigger battery (and back)
   3. Development of custom IPL code along with a technique to sign that code as authentic.

Even more impressive is that all of the above was achieved without any access to the official hardware or software.  With careful nurturing, this unbricker and custom IPL was to become the foundation of a whole new homebrew environment.

Unfortunately something happened to shatter the idyll.  Somehow, the unbricker was leaked into the wider world before it was ready to be released.  Whether this was deliberate, by one of the team members, or accidental via a security breach is still unclear.  The fact is that this unbricker appeared on the black market, being sold for huge prices.  As far as we know, it is probably very close to the same software that appears in at least some of the 'magic unbricker'/'jigkick' videos.

So, although the time was not right to release this (it would have been wise to wait at least until the PSP Slim release), our hand has been forced.  In order to prevent small fortunes being made by leeches, we are giving this unbricker away for free.  So - let it be known - if you have paid for an unbricker, then you have been ripped off.  I suggest that you take up your grievances with the seller - it should never have been sold.   And if you're unhappy about this being released before PSP Slim - then blame whoever it was that leaked or stole it.

It's unclear whether or not this is the end for the Prometheus project -  hopefully not, but that is undecided so far.  In case it is the end, it is worth a quick roll of honour. In alphabetical order:

Adrahil, Booster, Cswindle, Dark_AleX, Ditlew, Fanjita, Joek2100, Jim, Mathieulh, Nem, Psp250, Skylark, TyRaNiD.

And here are their respective C+D (Create and Destroy) nicknames.

Mathieulh = WiseFellow
Tyranid = bockscar
Fanjita = FullerMonty
Joek = CosmicOverSoul
Dark_Alex = Malyot
Chris = Caretaker
Adrahil = VoidPointer
nem = h1ckeyph0rce

Anyway - make sure to read the readme.txt in this release for how to use it, but in brief it works like this:

   1. You run a program on a homebrew-enabled PSP that will convert a standard PSP battery into a jigkick battery.  Note that you can't then use that battery normally - so you should use a spare one.
   2. You run a program to generate the unbricker memory stick image, built from the v1.5 update EBOOT (note that this, and the custom IPL, means the release is completely free of Sony copyright materials).
   3. You run some programs on a PC to install the image to your memory stick.

Now, you have a battery/memory stick pair that works just like the famous jigkick combination (but better) - just insert them into any PSP (even a brick) and the PSP will be reinstalled with the v1.5 firmware.  As far as we know, this will continue to work for all future firmwares.

Enjoy!  And remember - if you find this useful, please donate to the original developers - it's a lot cheaper than paying £1500 for it on the black market...  Donations via paypal please using this button:

vor ein par tagen habe ich hier über KickStart berichtet dachte aber das ganze ist eher ein scherz oder geld mache aber nun sind neue infos raus das ganze hört sich wirklich net schlecht an

Zitat von: maxconsoleExclusive: KickStart - plug 'n play PSP mod chip, works on ANY PSP, no downgrading needed!

Several days ago we reported on something manufactured in the far east called the 'KickStart' for PSP, we had little information on it except for a box shot. However, we have since followed up on the matter and the manufacturer has provided us with more shots and imformation. The KickStart for PSP will work any PSP version and allows you to load homebrew directly through standard firmware without the need to downgrade your PSP. The pack comes complete with a special 'tool battery' and 'tool memory stick', which will shortly be going on sale for $60. Amazing stuff indeed and what an incredible week for hackers! Note, this product was announced before the release of Pandora's Battery.

UPDATE

ZitatThey pretended to make money from our work, I bet this is the leaked thing from us, the ipl will say it all, as I doubt they can sign ipl's like us.

This **** was actually the reason of the urgent release of Pandora. Enough is enough, too many idiots were winning money with our work that was intended to be free.

Idiots like these, and the leaker are the ones that have put in danger the hack of psp slim. If the psp slim is unhackable, you will know which kind of people to blame: those that have a $ instead of a heart.

No need to say it, but DO NOT BUY THAT SH·IT.

Everybody, help your friends, partners, etc, even people you don't know, to unbick and downgrade their batteries for free, and fu·ck these $ retards.

Zitat von: maxconsole.netDS Flashcarts, the reason for the DS's immense success in Japan?

Francesco from GAMERS magazine mailed in from Japan to let us know about the success that DS/Lite flashcarts are having in Japan. He claims that products such as the M3 flash cart are among the best selling products in Akihabara and osaka den den town. Francesco claims that sales are so strong that even the likes of 'Amani Ali' are talking about items such as the M3. With flash carts being ready available in the Japanese market, could this factor alone be contributing hugely to their phenomenal sales in the region?

ZitatRight now I'm in Japan for work. And I think there is a news that felt
under the radar of european/us websites:

M3 BOOM IN JAPAN

The news that you will never read in "official" videogame sites from Japan is that the M3 flash card is among the best selling products in
Akihabara (and osaka den den town). The trend is so strong that even idol like Amano Ai http://blog.amanoai.chu.jp/ (attached mobile phone photo posted by her) are talking about this card. Right now M3 is sold out everywere and is considered the cool gadget to have (by the DS users). I think this is an underground trend that has not been seen since the Magicom era and the many publication devoted to DS,WII and PSP hacking on sale in normal newstanbds and bookstores clearly demostrates that japanese users loves the homebrew and undeground probably more than the european and american gamers. Our friends at Sansai books(http://www.sansaibooks.co.jp/) are the biggest players in this market, their flag monthly magazine GAMELABO sels over 100.000 copies, but there
are other mid-sized publisher who are releasing hacking magazines like
http://www.shinyusha.co.jp/

Thanks for the tip Fran

Zitat von: maxcosnolePandora's Battery currently incompatible with PSP Slim, flashing lights give hope

According to a member of the MaxConsole forums, Pandora's Battery is currently not compatible with the PSP Slim. He claims he has attended PAX this weekend where some promotions girls had the PSP slim, and he asked if he could try his battery out on it with the hacked memory card. Unfortunately it did not work with the slim. The battery tried to load something but then a blank screen resulted. Perhaps some fine tuning is needed by Team C+D, or perhaps Sony has really beefed up their security, all will be known in a few weeks when the machine is finally released. However, GameDeals is sure he saw the PSP lights flash a few times which Dark_Alex has stated is a good sign when it comes to running homebrew code. Read more here.

If light flashed... unsigned code run

Well not totally unsigned, as the ipl is partially signed... but by us not by Sony

Zitat von: maxconsole forumHow install a CFW with TA-082+ no key patching / Fix your keys

!!!!The 1st rule of this guide is you must make a backup NAND image!!!!
!!!!The 2nd rule of this guide is you must make a backup NAND image!!!!

   1. Keep this backup NAND image in a safe place.
   2. Use Pandora to un-brick or downgrade your PSP.
   3. Upgrade to 2.80.
   4. Install HEN homebrew enabler.
   5. Install Chilly Willy's Key Cleaner.
   6. Install Chilly Willy's IdStorage Manager.
   7. Run IdStorage Manager and make a backup of your keys and move to a safe place.
   8. Do whatever is needed for you to fix your keys to be able to upgrade to 3.52 with Key Cleaner.
   9. Run but do not install the 3.52 updater to see if you did everything correct, if you didn't 3.52 should error out.
  10. Run IdStorage Manager again and make a backup of your keys.
  11. Use Pandora to downgrade to 1.5.
  12. Install the CFW of your choice.
  13. Install Dark_AleX's custom IPL.
  14. Run IdStorage Manager again and repair your keys that let you run the 3.52 updater.
  15. Once again make a NAND image of your new clean CFW.

Now you have a TA-082+ with good keys and a fully working CFW.

_____

The fast way to un-brick/downgrade then install M33 on any PSP

   1. Install M33 and update it to the newest version.
   2. Install Dark_AleX's custom IPL.
   3. Use Pandora to create and NAND image.
   4. Use Pandora to flash without the IDStorage option (press X) your NAND image on any PSP, doesn't matter what firmware they are running as long as they have clean keys.

If you do this all you need to do in pop in the battery and memory card on anyones PSP, press [] then X. and they will have a fully working M33.

This does work, M33's firmware DOES NOT use sigchecked PRX's

_____
_____
_____

Tools need:

    * KeyCleaner
    * IdStorage Manager
    * Custom IPL
    * 2.80 HEN

Please read all of the posts in said tool thread to find what is needed to help you, and all the other treads that might help you with the problem you might have.

Note:

Dark_AleX's custom IPL is installed, because when installing M33 from EBOOT SCE's 1.5 IPL is flashed, and with a clean key 5 M33 will not run on TA-082+'s.

http://psp.tgbus.com/news/200708/20070831160615.shtml

Zitat von: maxconsole.netWii the most 'green' console, 17 watts compared to Xbox 360 Elite's 194 watts

Laptops, of course, consumed fewer watts. The Hewlett-Packard Pavilion Entertainment laptop with the 17-inch screen used 57 watts.

Dean Takahashi of the Mercury News has posted up some energy efficiency results from a range of electronic products he has reviewed. In specific relation to gaming consoles, Takahashi found that the Wii consumed a mere 17 watts, while the Elite came in at 194 watts and the PS3 a slightly lower consumption of 171 watts.

ZitatThe bigger the display, the bigger the amount of electricity used. The 42-inch Panasonic Veisa plasma TV consumed 200 watts. But the FPD2485W 24-inch monitor for the Gateway computer came in at just 95 watts. And my old 27-inch Zenith standard definition TV used only 68 watts, though for some reason it used 5 watts when it was turned off.

The game consoles yielded some predictable results. The Xbox 360 Elite came in at 194 watts. That's why it has the whirring fans inside the box as well as in the power supply that is inside the large "brick" in the power cord. The PlayStation 3 came in at 171 watts. But the Nintendo Wii consumed a measly 17 watts.
