english
I only accessed Sherwood's syscon once and yes, it is different, but I prefer to see the error list with the "errlog" command.

It is strange to have a PS3 with AV Multi Out and HDMI IC both defective, unless it is the victim of an electrical discharge. Try to see if there are any other shorted capacitors, use the service manual for the SEM-001 board as a reference. The only places where the impedance is low in relation to GND are the lines and power supply of the CELL and RSX, with up to 2 ohms. Apart from that, only the 1.5V_YC_RC_VDDA has approximately 4 ohms.

English
Unfortunately, the exact value can only be removed from another VER-001. However, in both the COK-001 (C6221) and the SEM-001 (C6221) this capacitor has a specification of 22uf x 16v, so I believe it will not be very different.

You can remove the other capacitor near the MOSFETs at the bottom of the photo and check the capacitance, on this 12V line the minimum voltage of the capacitor will be 16V.

English
Hello everyone!

I've been a bit absent lately, but I was getting to the point where I could only continue with the analysis/maintenance of my PS3 collection if I took a step forward. In this case, the step foward would be to acquire professional equipment, and I was "stuck" in getting more precise answers regarding short circuits and reballing.

Regarding reballing, I haven't taken the step foward yet, and I don't intend to acquire any equipment. I'm going to opt for developing my own machine, which was a case study in my undergraduate degree.

As for getting more precise answers regarding short circuits, I took this step forward by acquiring a thermal camera. Thermal camera are so expensive and before I tried to find short circuits by injecting voltage and/or applying the Kelvin method, but I wasn't having success with these methods with PS3 and PS4 boards.

I received my camera last Thursday (03/27/2025) and today I already have the first positive result, PS3 #9, which contained voltages 1.2V_RSX_VDDR and 1.5V_RSX_VDDIO with impedances of 1.1 Ohm and 2.7 Ohm respectively, had shorted components identified and replaced, causing the CECHB to turn on again after 4 or 5 years with a defect.

Here I leave the advice that, if you find low impedances in any sector of the PS3 or in the RSX or CELL, do not discard the board or make it a parts donor, check for shorted components and most importantly, invest in good equipment!

english
With the original driver or the replacement driver connected, the firmware installation occurs without problems.

As I reported above, I installed a new HD and connected the BD driver from a damaged PS3, the CECHH requested a new installation of version 4.00 and it was installed successfully;

I then installed HFW 4.91 and then CFW 4.92, all installations occurred without problems;

I remarried the BD driver only after installing CFW4.92.

Only use NoBD if you no longer have a BD Driver or if the driver's controller board is damaged.

If the replacement Driver receives and ejects the disc and when the disc is inside and the KES recognizes and spins the disc, it indicates that your driver is in good condition.

With the error 8002F14E it may be that this "new" BD Driver is also having a problem.

From what I've read about remarrying with CFW, if it doesn't work, you have to downgrade.

English
I managed to complete the remarry process on the PS3 CECHH.

The PS3 was on firmware 4.00, and when I accessed the browser I received the error "SSL handshake", probably because the browser data was out of date because it was on firmware 4.00.

To remarry I followed the following steps:
1- I updated to HFW 4.91.1;
2- Then I started the CFW 4.92 installation process (ps3toolset page);
3- After the initial process, I downloaded Evilnat 4.92 and started the CFW installation (*);
4- After installing the CFW I started the remarry process;
5- Insert a USB flash drive formatted in FAT32;
6- I went to: XMB > Network > Firmware Tools > Dump Tools > Perform ERK Dump (**) > The dump will be stored on the USB flash drive;
7- After the Dump is complete, access: XMB > Network > Firmware Tools > Service Tools > Advanced Service Tools > Factory Service Mode - "FSM" > activate FSM;
8- The PS3 will restart, the restart process may take a while;
9- After restarting, the PS3 will turn on with low resolution and with the message "Factory/Service Mode in red background";
10- With the pendrive still connected, access: XMB > Custom Firmware Tools > Service Tools > Advanced Service Tools > Remarry Bluray Drive;
11- After confirming success, access: XMB > Custom Firmware Tools > Service Tools > Advanced Service Tools > Toggle Factory Service Mode > confirm disabling the mode;
12- The PS3 will restart as in step 8;
13- After restarting, the PS3 is now able to insert icons and run discs!

There are 13 steps but if the PS3 already has CFW the process is very quick as it will start from step 5.

(*) I had problems with corrupted firmware, but the problem was with the USB flash drive. I used another USB flash drive and it worked;
(**) The PS3 froze during the dump and I suspect it was because I changed the fan settings before the dump, so the advice is not to change the CFW options before the dump. Because I forced the shutdown, the data analysis process took almost 10 minutes (I also suspect that the HD is not good).

Hallo zusammen!

Hello everyone! The last PS3 I had serviced was a DIA-001 board that was donated to me and that I inserted into a CECHH12 case. The board's region should probably be 12 because the confirmation button is in the circle instead of the X button.

Since the board was donated and I already had a BD drive from the previous board, it means that I will have to re-marry the BD driver with the DIA-001 board. I hope to be able to do that today.

I quickly read each of your posts and I will try to clarify some points that I saw and that I remember in random order.

Since I also didn't have the original HD, I had to reinstall the system. It was the first time that I turned on this board in a working condition.

About the BD Drive not married with the board:

I connected the BD driver and a 160GB HD (original from my CECH-2511A) and turned on the PS3. It requested firmware 4.00 or higher and then informed me that it would format the HD. The formatting went up to 99% and took a long time. I immediately thought that this was the detection of an unpaired BD drive and I forced the PS3 to turn off. Then I tested with the BD Driver data cable disconnected. The PS3 got stuck on a screen that preceded the formatting process. I reconnected the BD driver and the PS3 went up to 99% of the HD formatting. After a few resets, I decided to leave the PS3 on at 99% of the formatting. About 10 minutes later, the firmware installation confirmation screen appeared. Conclusion: If you have an unpaired BD driver but the board is working, the PS3 can install the firmware normally.

About the discs not being inserted or ejected:
As previously mentioned, the BD driver that equips the CECHH activates the mechanics using micro switches, so it is important that the gears are "in the right position". When I tested the BD driver for the first time, it made a noise like gears were stuck. Later, I managed to insert a disc, but the KES-410 block would not rise. I disassembled the upper part and the input part, removed the motor to test the mechanics that raise and lower the KES block. Then, I reassembled it. I noticed that one of the gears on the upper cover wasn't in the correct position. After that, I reassembled it and the driver receives and ejects the discs without any problems. I read above that a user was raising and lowering the KES block. Be careful when doing this so as not to move the gears out of the correct position and also not to force the motor and, consequently, the driver that controls this same motor. If I can remarry the Driver BD today, I will take some pictures of the gears.

About the discs not being recognized:
As mentioned before, try removing the FFC cable that connects the PS3 board to the BD Driver board. I once had a case where a CECHA received discs and rotated normally, but no icon appeared on the XMB. I removed the FFC cable, cleaned the contacts with a white eraser, reconnected them, and the icons appeared.

About NoBD firmware:
I'm new to this subject and in my research I only found NoBD firmware above 4.88.

@Takeshi, I don't know if this is what you were looking for, but this link has the PS3 OFWs from 1.02 to 4.91: https://archive.org/download/ps3-official-firmwares

 https://www.psx-place.com/threads/a-new-method-for-delidding-the-cell.30265/page-2#post-284617

I had already read some cases on PSX-place where the CELL's DIE was "glued" to the IHS, I had even seen a spreedsheet that informed which boards had CELL glued and which did not.

Did you not apply heat when you noticed that the IHS did not come loose after removing the silicone?

Thanks!

I updated the information for PS3#5 and #7 in the initial comment.

For PS3#5 I took a picture and noticed a small crack in the corner, could this have an influence?

Zitat von: Joel_ am 12. Februar 2025, 13:55:10Echt schade.

I always say when I have to make a decision: "A no is already guaranteed", in this case for this PS3 it would be "A problem is already guaranteed!". It's moving forward with a possible solution, if it works it's wonderful, if it doesn't work you already have a problem.

But I'm curious and want to make it work, I've never seen it work,  what MAC it has, Has contents on HD? Does the HD have games?

English
I was talking to RIP-Felix about the different BitTraining errors and although I think the problem is in the CELL, he thinks it is in the RSX.

I believe the 3034 problem is in the CELL BGA because when I did a heat test the 3034 error continued, but the BitTraining error changed from "BitTraining BE:RRAC:BX0:BX:BX_STATUS" to "BitTraining BE:RRAC:TX0:GLOBAL1:TX_PLL_STATUS" and kept switching between them. Also, sometimes the 3034 error doesn't appear and instead appears as 3020, 3031 or 3032.

In the first reflow I noticed that the board warps very quickly and in the second attempt I had to use a template taking advantage of the metal part and the heatsinks of the PS3.

I don't like to extend the reflow process. I have already lost two boards with simple problems because I decided to extend the reflow even though the temperature was acceptable. The result was bubbles.

Since I did not get any difference in the results after two reflow attempts, I will save this board and analyze another PS3. I still have about 5 boards to be analyzed.

As a personal project, I have to build my own reballing machine. This was a subject of my undergraduate degree, but I never took the project forward. Last year I bought a 3D printer (Ender 3 S1 Pro) and when I saw the structure of the printer, I had some project ideas. Who knows, maybe I can make them a reality.

This is not a give up, I have made great progress on this board.

From a state where I would turn on the PS3 and the fan would spin at the last stage and then turn off with a series of errors to now turning it on and practically showing error 3034, this was excellent progress.

In addition, with the new rework station (Sugon 8620DX-Pro) I finally feel more confident and safe to replace components with BGA, such as replacing IC2502 (SiL9132 - HDMI), eliminating the short circuit that existed in the sector. I did not do this type of maintenance on the old rework station and sometimes I tried with a heat gun.

In this case, I am just prioritizing the little time I have, continuing to analyze the other boards and then deciding which one will have priority for maintenance, in addition to the fact that by analyzing other boards I have more comparative data that can help me find the defective sector.

I'm really excited about this device, it reminds me of years ago when I was hunting for the cause of the problem!

I'm making a lot more progress with PS3s compared to the last time I checked them, 4 or 5 years ago.

This CECHA00 never worked, I bought it used and every time I turned it on it would spin the fan on the last stage, in the last few days I've been eliminating problem after problem and it's quite contagious and motivates me to keep analyzing.

I hope the 3034 error is the last one and that it will at least disappear for a while after doing a reflow. I don't have a reballing machine. So far, all the 3034 errors I've had have been bypassed with the reflow, in some cases the 3034 reappears, in others it doesn't.
